Duke Energy Retail, a subsidiary of Duke Energy Corporation and an affiliate of Duke Energy Ohio, sells electricity and natural gas to customers at competitive prices rather than the preset prices offered by local electric and gas distribution companies. We work with Duke Energy Retail on a number of initiatives to help Ohio residents take control of their energy bills through strategic brand development, extensive competitive research, and creative development of marketing collateral. Some of our other work with Duke Energy Retail includes a website and enrollment process redesign, paid search with text, display, and video ads, and the “Switch On Ohio” website.

Web Development

Our team worked alongside a brand team to redesign the Duke Energy Retail website and energy plan enrollment process. We built the site map and wireframes to help organize the website flow and outline the key content pieces. For this project we also wrote fresh content and developed a new design using brand standards to stay true to Duke’s mission. Google Analytics was implemented for the website in order to continuously monitor use and easily make updates based on insights.

SwitchOnOhio.com is another website that we helped to launch. The site is a comparison tool of alternative electric and gas suppliers across the state of Ohio. Our team added in an “offer calculator” function that allows customers to see their savings figures for various plans. The site streamlines clear and simple sign up access for customers to click and be sent to individual suppliers websites.

Email Marketing

Expanding beyond direct mail, TG was tasked with creating and executing an Email Marketing campaign. Starting from the ground up, we mapped out the most effective approach for the complete campaign. Starting with a distribution list provided by the client, we proposed multiple creative approaches for customer retention and renewal. Continually looking to expand distribution, we crafted custom landing pages and information outreach campaigns to capture additional leads. A multi-tiered campaign was then created to reach out to each new lead with targeted email messages based on information provided at signup, improving overall conversion rates.

Marketing Collateral

Ohio’s Energy Choice program is a very competitive arena.  To help rise above the noise, TG has created countless pieces of marketing collateral for Duke Energy Retail.  Print collateral includes magazine, newspaper, outdoor, direct mail and informational packets.  Moving beyond print collateral, TG developed and oversaw the production of a series of educational videos, distributed via YouTube and shared across social media, outlining Ohio’s Energy Choice program.  To compliment various print and digital collateral pieces, TG also developed several infographics to help educate consumers about energy choice.

Direct Mail

Working closely with the internal team at Duke Energy Retail, TG has created and executed a number of direct mail campaigns to help inform Ohioans of their right to choose energy suppliers, gain new customers, and generate new leads and local excitement thanks to a sponsorship agreement with the Cincinnati Reds baseball team. Using actual customer usage data and variable printing capabilities, direct mail pieces were personalized to reach the target audience and show exactly what they could be saving on their electric bill with Duke Energy Retail. By segmenting data and delivering campaigns, rather than just one-off mailers, we helped the client build a relationship with potential customers over a period of time.

TG is a combination of strategist, marketing consultants, designers and web developers. They are a get-it-all-done-no-matter-what-it-takes partner. We have relied on them for years to execute our marketing program and they have been integral to our brand’s growth.
